Stabbing Investigation in Leslie County
Date of News Release: 07/31/2009
(Rockhouse, Ky.) -- On July 31, 2009 Kentucky State Police Trooper Earl Whitaker responded to the Leslie County Sheriff's Office on an unrelated call when a male subject, Mickey Ray Howard came in stating he had been stabbed. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Mickey Ray Howard and Rickie Morgan were involved in an altercation in the parking lot at the "This and That" store in the Rockhouse community of Leslie County. Mr. Howard received stab wounds to the hand and the abdomen and Mr. Morgan received a single gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Howard was treated and released at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital and Mr. Morgan was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he is listed in serious condition. No charges have been filed at this time. The case is still pending upon further investigation by Detective Clayton Stamper with the Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard.
