Fatal Collision in Letcher County
Date of News Release: 05/21/2009
(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 5/21/09 at 0830 hrs KSP Hazard received a call from J & A Mining Company at Friday Branch in Letcher County, reporting a rock truck driver had backed over the dump site. Rescue and EMS personnel responded to extricate the driver, and later transported the driver to Whitesburg ARH Hospital. Jeremy L. Stewart 32 years of age of Jenkins, Ky. was pronounced deceased by ER personnel. Tpr. David Combs U425, State and Federal Mining authorities are continuing with an investigation.
