News Release

Motorcycle Fatality in Knott County

Date of News Release: 05/15/2009

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On Friday, May 15, 2009, at approximately 1:37 AM, Kentucky State Police Post 13, in Hazard, received a call of a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Yellow Creek Road in the Sassafras community of Knott County. Tpr. Chris Frazier and Tpr. Jody Sims were called to the scene, and found that Christopher O. Pratt, age 46, of Hindman, KY, had crashed his 1984 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mr. Pratt had been traveling west on KY 1088, when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a support beam, near a railroad track. Knott County Deputy Coroner Donnie Salmons pronounced Christopher Pratt deceased at the scene. No helmet was in use at the time of the collision. This accident remains under investigation by Tpr. Jody Sims of Post 13 in Hazard.
