Traffic Fatality Involving a Passenger Car and Motorcycle

Date of News Release: 05/11/2009

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 05/10/2009 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call of a motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 15 in the Bonnyman Community of Perry County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger car was pulling out onto Hwy. 15 from Entertainment Drive when it pulled out into the path of a motorcycle traveling North on Hwy. 15. The operator of the motorcycle Denver E. Couch age 46 of Hazard Ky. was airlifted from the scene to Holston Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The operator of the passenger car Edna Lee and a passenger in her car was transported to the Hazard ARH and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Seat belts were in use by occupants in the passenger car at the time of the collision. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet. The investigation is continuing by Tpr. Loren Holliday.
