Murder Investigation in Leslie County

(Hazard, Ky.) -- On 04/18/2009 Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call from the Leslie County E.O.C that a man was inside his residence and possibly deceased.

Kentucky State Police along with the Leslie County Sheriff's Department and Trans Star Ambulance responded to the scene to find that a white male was lying in the floor inside the residence deceased. Preliminary Investigation indicates that Kelly Johnson Jr. age 66 of Hyden, Ky. had received a single gunshot wound. The victim has been taken to the Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort for an Autopsy. No arrests have been made at this time. State Police are asking anyone with any information to contact them at (606) 435-6069 or 1-800-222-5555 and you may remain anonymous.
