Post 12 Memorial Day Holiday 2009

(Post 12 Frankfort) -- Kentucky State Police (Post 12 Frankfort) Preliminary statistics indicates no fatal collision occurred in our seven counties in the Post 12 area during the Memorial Day Holiday 2009. Preliminary data shows 7 fatalities statewide.
Post 12 Troopers issued a total of 554 citations, 99 citations were for speeding. There were 180 citations for seat belt violations and 3 child restraint violations. There were 219 other citations issued. There were 8 DUI arrest, 45 other arrest, 4 traffic collisions investigated and 12 traffic safety checkpoints conducted. This data is preliminary and comes from Post 12 Frankfort.
Continuing through June 1, the Kentucky State Police will be participating in the CLICK IT OR TICKET Enforcement Campaign. In 2008 there were 826 fatalities in Kentucky, 454 (55 %) of theses fatalities involved persons not wearing their seat belts. Post 12 Commander Captain Mike Crawford warns everyone "If you choose not to buckle up, then be prepared to get a ticket". Traffic safety checkpoints as well as saturation patrols will continue with special emphasis on seat belt violations, speeding and impaired driving.
