News Release

Fatal Collision on KY 577 in Clay County

Date of News Release: 04/23/09

(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 2:35 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, in London was notified of a traffic crash on KY 577 in Clay County, KY.

Upon arrival Trooper Nick Metcalf determined that a white 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck, operated by Ronnie Edwards, 49, of Sextons Creek, KY, was southbound of KY 577 when it left the roadway and overturned several times.

Mr. Edwards was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Clay County Coroner Jim Trosper.

No alcohol use is suspected and Mr. Edwards was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Trooper Metcalf is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the Clay County EMS, the Clay County Coroners Office, the Burning Springs Fire Department and the Manchester Fire Department.
