Wanted Person Turns Himself In

(Harlan, Ky.) -- On 12/08/2009 at 10:45 am, Christopher Smith turned himself in to the Letcher County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Smith was transported back to Harlan by Kentucky State Police Post 10 where he was charged for Murder with a bond set at $25 million. Other charges are pending. He will be lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. This case is still under investigation by Detective Michael Cornett of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.

Date of News Release: 12/08/2009
(Cumberland, Ky.) -- On 12/7/2009 at 8:36 pm, units from Kentucky State Police Post 10, Cumberland Police Department and Harlan County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible shooting on KY 522 near Cumberland, KY. Christopher P. Smith, age 37 of Cumberland, KY had a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, Melissa Clark age 24 of Cumberland, KY. During the struggle, Mr. Smith discharged a firearm, killing Kimberly R. Ealy, age 32 of Cumberland, KY. Melissa Clark and a 13 year old juvenile were able to escape to a residence to safety.
Christopher P. Smith, DOB: 02/21/1972 is Wanted for Murder. This subject is considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. He is operating a 1997 Black Ford F-150 with Kentucky license plate number 015-CDH.
This case is still under investigation by Detective Michael Cornett of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
