Shooting Investigation in Boonscamp

Date of News Release: 05/30/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- Kentucky State Troopers responded to a 911 call of a shooting in Boonscamp on the Martin/Johnson County line. Upon arrival Troopers discovered that John Buskirk, Jerry Hensley, and Elijah Stacey had been involved in a physical altercation that escalated from a verbal argument. Witness stated that when the argument became physical Elijah Stacey pulled out a gun and started shooting. Buskirk was shot once in the foot and Hensley was shot once in the head. Buskirk and Hensley was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington WV were both are listed in stable condition. Elijah Stacey was placed under arrest and lodged in the Big Sandy Detention Center. The shooting is under the investigation of Trooper Josh Preece.
