News Release

Fatal Collision on Dusty Diamond Mine in Pike County

Date of News Release: 05/26/2008

(Pikeville, KY)- On May 20, 2008 at 7:24 pm EST Pikeville Post 9 received a call of a motor vehicle collision at the Dusty Diamond Mine off of the Left Fork of Island Creek in the Pikeville community of Pike County.

Paula Childress, 26 year of age of Pikeville, was operating a 1998 Infinity on a strip job road when she lost control of her vehicle and overturned in a ditch. The passenger, Mark Damron, 37 year of age of Pikeville, was partially ejected from the vehicle. Alcohol is supected. Mr. Damron was pronounced deceased at the scene by Coroner Russell Roberts.

The collision remains under investigtion by Trooper Justin Cornett.
