Fatal ATV Collision on Branham and Baker Mine Road Floyd County
Date of News Release: 05/26/2008
(Pikeville, KY)- On May 24, 2008 at 4:23 PM EST Pikeville Post 9 received a call of a ATV on the Branham and Baker Mine Road off of KY 850 in the Hippo community of Floyd County.
A male seventeen (17) year old was operating an ATV on the Branham and Baker Mine Road when the ATV hit a bump in the road causing the ATV to overturn. The male juvenile operator was transported to the McDowell ARH and the seventeen (17) year old female passenger, Brianna Castle, was flown to St Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV. Ms. Castle was pronounced dead at the hospital on May 25, 2008 at 12:45 pm as a result of her injuries.
The collision remains under investigation Trooper Tony Tackett.
