Theft by Failure to make Required Disposition Arrest

(Morehead, KY) - Emerson L. Williams, 23 of West Liberty and Rodney A. McKinley, 37 of Cynthiana were arrested and charged with alledgedly committing Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition in relation to a joint investigation by Morehead State Police Detective Tim Gibbs and Morehead City Detective David Sexton into the business operations of Best Buy Auto Sales in Morehead and Nicholsville Road Auto Sales in Nicholsville. Both Williams and McKinley were sales associates at the Best Buy location.
The two alledgedly had altered sales documents and instrument displays of vehicles that had been sold to unsuspecting customers. McKinley was also charged with Possession of Mariuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Williams and McKinley were lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center.
During the investigation 15 vehicles from the Morehead Lot and 5 vehicles from the Nicholsville Lot were impounded due the instrument readouts of the vehicles being tampered with or altered. Paper files and computers were seized that contained information spanning several years of sales transactions. The investigation continues with the possibiltiy of more charges and more arrests in the near future as additional information and evidence is obtained.
