Garrard County Murder Investigation

(Richmond, KY) - Detectives of the Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond are currently conducting a murder investigation at the Westwood Apartment Complex in the Limits of Lancaster. At 8:18 a.m., the Blue Grass 911 Center received a report of a naked man sitting outside of the Westwood Apartments on Danville Street. A Lancaster City Police Officer responded and placed the man in his police vehicle. The officer then entered the man's apartment and found a deceased female in the front bedroom of the apartment. The victim is Courtney Walton Creech age 30, of Lancaster. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge. It appears the victim died from a stab wound. The man originally detained by the Lancaster Police was identified as Luther C. Creech age 40, of Lancaster. He has been charged with murder. He was initially taken to Fort Logan Hospital, but has since been transferred to UK Medical Center in Lexington, where he will be treated for broken foot bones. Upon his release from the hospital he will be lodged in the Lincoln County Jail. The body of the deceased will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort, where an autopsy will be conducted. The suspect and victim are husband and wife. The victim's next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
