Assault 3rd and Menacing Investigation and Arrest

Date of News Release: 02/04/2008

(Richmond, KY) - On 02/02/2008 at 9:16 p.m., Trooper Sonny Dunaway of the Kentucky State Police Post 7, Richmond was on the scene of a vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Fish Creek Loop and Winkler Springs Road. While at the scene, Trooper Dunaway arrested Christopher Gabbard age 28, of Booneville. Mr. Gabbard is a member of the Owsley County Fire Department who had also responded to the scene of the collision. During the course of the arrest Christopher Gabbard received a minor injury. He was taken to the Kentucky River Medical Center , where he was treated and released. Christopher Gabbard was charged with Assault 3rd and Menacing. He was lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail. The use of force by Trooper Dunaway is being investigated by a supervisor, per Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures.
