WHAT: Friday Night Blue Light Event
WHEN: October 24, 2008 at 7:00 PM
WHERE: Boone County High School Football Field
WHO: Kentucky State Police
WHY: To reduce traffic fatalities across the state by enforcing safe driving and seat belt use. This campaign will also target underage drinking which is often associated with post-game activities.
ACTIVITIES:
FACTS: Last year in Kentucky, the highest percentage of collisions for the months of September and October occurred on Fridays – specifically, in the evening hours.
Boone County: In 2007, there were 4,835 collisions; 960 with injuries and 12 fatalities. Of these collisions, 179 collisions involved alcohol, 968 involved teenagers of which 230 were with injuries that resulted in 1 fatality.
