Bourbon County Escapees Apprehended

(Dry Ridge, KY) - On Saturday, May 10, 2008 at approximately 1007 hours, Bourbon County Detention escapees Shane S. Carson, 33, of Nicholasville, KY and Michael E. McDowell, 29, of Irvine, KY were located along Interstate 75 in Whitley Co. These subjects were taken into custody by the Williamsburg Police Department without incident and transported to the Whitley County Detention Center. This incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police Post 6 Dry Ridge.

(Dry Ridge, KY) - On Friday, May 09, 2008 at approximately 1755 hours, Kentucky State Police Post 6 in Dry Ridge was notified of the escape of two state prisoners from a work detail in Millersburg, KY.

Inmate Shane S. Carson, 33, of Nicholasville, KY and inmate Michael E. McDowell, 29, of Irvine, KY stole a vehicle belonging to the City of Millersburg Fire Department. The vehicle is described as a 1995 Ford Bronco, black in color, bearing Kentucky official tag, F5503. These inmates were left unattended while on a work detail at the Millersburg Fire Department. Carson was incarcerated for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and McDowell was incarcerated for Wanton Endangerment.

Warrants for escape and theft are being obtained for both Carson and McDowell. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of either Carson or McDowell is asked to contact the nearest law enforcement agency. If the escapees are sighted, do no attempt to apprehend them, but contact law enforcement.

The escape remains under investigation by Trooper John Hawkins with Kentucky State Police Post 6 Dry Ridge.
