News Release

Cooperative Effort Recover Stolen Vehicle & Arrest

Date of News Release: 01/11/2008

(Campbellsburg, KY.) - On January 10th, 2008, Carroll County Sheriff Ben Smith requested assistance from KSP Post-5, Campbellsburg, in reference to a stolen vehicle complaint that his department was working. A State Police undercover detective made contact with the alleged perpetrator and an agreed selling price was reached. They arranged to meet each other at a truckstop in Pendleton, KY (Henry County)

Justin R. Bailey, white male, age 20, from Carrollton, Ky, was arrested and charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking/over $300/Auto. The vehicle was a 2008 Dodge Crew-Cab Dually Heavy-Duty Pick-Up with Cummins Diesel Engine, valued at over $48,000.00. The vehicle was stolen from the car lot at Tom Nelson Dodge, in Carrollton. Mr. Bailey was a previous employee at the dealership. Mr. Bailey was transported and lodged in the Carroll County Regional Detention Center.

Assisting Sheriff Smith and the KSP undercover detective was; KSP Sgt. Vic Hubbuch, KSP Sgt. Mark Bess, KSP Det. Shane Bates, K-9 Handler Trooper First Class Larry Newton, Trooper Dave Roberts, Tpr. Jim Mitchell, Tpr. Charlie Kelton, Carroll County Deputy JT Shaw, and Chief Deputy Jim Hamilton.
