Fatal Collision on I-65 Claims the Life of Representative Larry Belcher

(Bowling Green, KY) - Mary Wasson was stopped in traffic at the 43.6 mile-marker on I-65 northbound due to congestion from construction at the 46 mile-marker northbound. Rep. Larry Belcher was observed by other motorists going northbound and failed to see Ms. Wasson's 2009 Volvo Semi stopped in traffic ahead. Mr. Belcher's vehicle struck the rear of Ms. Wasson's vehicle and came to a final rest under the trailer of Ms. Wasson's vehicle. Rep. Larry Belcher was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Edmonson County Coroners Office. An autopsy is pending on the deceased. Alcohol is not suspected. The investigation is ongoing.
