Injury Collision on Kentucky 94 in Graves County

Date of News Release: 10/06/2008

(Mayfield, KY) - Jimmy L. Travis Jr. was eastbound on Kentucky 94 near the Cuba community when a deer entered the travel portion of the roadway. Mr. Travis swerved to miss the deer and collided with Fred Seavers III who had entered a ditch in an attempt to avoid the collision. Mr. Travis' vehicle was fully engulfed in fire and was in close proximity to Mr. Seavers' vehicle. The occupants of Mr. Seavers' vehicle were entrapped and extricated by a passerby. Jimmy L. Travis Jr. & Fred Seavers III were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A passenger in Mr. Travis' vehicle (Daniel W. Puckett) was admitted to the Western Baptist Hospital. Another passenger in Mr. Travis' vehicle (Kelly Helton) was admitted to the Lourdes Hospital.

Air-Evac, PHI, Mayfield-Graves County Ambulance Service, Cuba Fire Department and Graves County Sheriffs Department assisted Kentucky State Police on scene. The investigation is continuing with Trooper Eric Fields.
