Computer Crime Arrest in Calloway County

(Murray, KY) - A Murray man has been charged with using a computer to solicit sex with a juvenile in California. On May 28th, Kentucky State Police received a complaint from the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Unit (SAFE Unit) out of Tulare County California. SAFE Unit investigators advised detectives with Kentucky State Police that Samuel Gray, 32 of Murray, had been chatting online with an officer of the SAFE Unit who was posing as a 14 year old girl. During the course of the online chat with investigators, Gray's conversation turned sexual in nature and at one point he discussed having sexual intercourse with the officer whom he believed to be a 14 year old girl.

Kentucky State Police Detective John Sims continued the investigation which fell out California's jurisdiction. On May 28th, a search warrant was obtained and served on the residence of Samuel Gray. On May 29th, an arrest warrant was issued and served on Gray who turned himself into investigators. Gray was charged with unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities, a class D felony. He was lodged at the Calloway County Jail on a $10,000 bond. The investigation is continuing by Detective John Sims.
