Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree Arrest in Hickman, KY

(Hickman, KY) - On Friday, May 16th, Kentucky State Police arrested the Hickman City Code Inspector, Mr. Billy G. Murray. On April 24th, 2008, Detective Cory Jessup received a complaint from 2 female inmates at the Fulton County Jail accusing Murray of sexual harassment. At the time of the complaint, Murray, who was employed by the city of Hickman as the city code enforcement officer, was the inmates' work release supervisor at City Hall. The inmates stated to police that the harassment began in early February of this year and continued until they reported it last month. Jail staff contacted the Kentucky State Police and an investigation initiated. The investigation by Det. Jessup revealed that inappropriate sexual contact had occurred between Murray and the two inmates.

On May 6th, Murray, who had been suspended by the city, sent a letter to the Hickman City Commission resigning his position as code enforcement officer effective June 20th. On May 16th, Murray turned himself into State police and was charged with two counts of Sexual Abuse 3rd degree. Murray was lodged in the Fulton County Detention Center in Hickman. Bond was not available at the time of this release. The investigation is continuing by Detective Cory Jessup wit the Kentucky State Police.
