Unlawful Transaction with a Minor Arrest

(Paducah, KY) - Kentucky State Police have arrested a teacher who recently resigned from the Hickman County High School. Mark Morris was arrested and charged with five counts of Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd degree after State Police conducted an investigation into an inappropriate relationship with a 15 year old female student. On May 7th of this year, Detective Cory Jessup received a complaint from the student's father alleging that Morris was having an inappropriate relationship with his daughter after discovering over 200 text messages on her phone from her teacher. In the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Morris purchased cigarettes for the student on at least five separate occasions. It was also learned that Morris was delivering the cigarettes to the student on school property during school hours.

On Friday, May 16, 2008, Kentucky State Police arrested Mark Morris, 38 of Paducah, and charged him with five counts of Unlawful Transaction with a Minor 3rd degree, a class A Misdemeanor. Morris was lodged in the McCracken County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by Detective Cory Jessup with the Kentucky State Police.
