Fatal Collision on KY 808 in Hickman County

(Hickman County) - Kentucky State Police was contacted by the Hickman County Sheriff's Office at 2:08 A.M. to investigate a single vehicle fatality accident on KY 808 approximately 7 miles south of Columbus. Melissa Burns, 29, was northbound on KY 808 operating a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire when she entered a curve and dropped off the left shoulder of the roadway, overturning into a creek. Burns was transported to Parkway Regional Hospital for multiple injuries. Passenger Christina Teems, 27, refused EMS treatment. Passenger Justin W. Pruitt, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene by Hickman County Deputy Coroner Matt Walker. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident and the investigation is continuing by Trooper Brett Miller.
