Injury Collision on US 60 in Union County

Date of News Release: 09/13/2008

(Henderson, KY) - Fred Mosley, operating a Union County school bus was westbound on US 60 and had stopped to drop students off at Moore-Hancock Road. Melissa Henderson, operating a 2001 Toyota Van eastbound on US 60 had stopped for the school bus. Tabitha Dixon, operating a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup was also eastbound on US 60 and was distracted briefly by a child in the back seat. When Ms. Dixon looked back at the road she saw Henderson's vehicle stopped for the bus. Ms. Dixon applied her brakes and tried to steer her vehicle to the right but was unable to avoid the collision. Ms. Dixon's vehicle struck the Ms. Henderson vehicle from the rear knocking it forward and to the left where it collided with the left rear of the school bus. No students on the bus were injured. One child in the Ms. Dixon vehicle was transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital Union County for examination and two passengers in the Ms. Henderson vehicle were transported to Methodist Hospital Union County by a private vehicle for examination. The school bus remained in service but the other two vehicles were towed from the scene.
