Felony Arrest in Union County

Date of News Release: 09/02/2008

(Henderson, KY) - Stephen "Weiner" Adams was arrested today (09/02/08) following a grand jury indictment for Manslaughter 2nd degree and Driving Under the Influence 2nd Offense Aggravated Circumstances. These charges stemmed from an accident that occurred July 05, 2008. The crash resulted in the death of Niokah "Nikki" Shackelford, a passenger in Mr. Adams' vehicle. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Mr. Adams was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Due to impaired driving Mr. Adams lost control of the vehicle on US 60 in the area of Blueberry Hill. Mr. Adams over corrected causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, overturn, and then become engulfed in flames. Ms. Shackelford was trapped and unable to get out resulting in her death. Mr. Adams was lodged in Union County Jail.
