Injury Collision on Damron Branch in Carter County

(Ashland, Ky) - Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating a single vehicle injury collision that occurred on Damron Branch. Charles E. Kouns was traveling North on Damron Branch, and entered a curve. Mr. Kouns' vehicle was not under proper control and traveled off the left side of the roadway. Mr. Kouns' vehicle then entered a creek and struck a City of Grayson Main natural gas line. Mr. Kouns was able to exit the vehicle under his own power. Mr. Kouns' vehicle became engulfed in flames and caused damage to the residence at 1560 Damron Branch. Charles E. Kouns, was ground transported to Kings Daughters Medical Center by Carter County EMS. Upon arrival at Kings Daughters Medical Center Kouns left the Medical Center and was located in Ashland. He was then transported to the Carter County Detention Center and lodged on the following charges: DUI 1st Offense Aggravating Circumstances, 2 Counts Of Possession Of A Controlled Substance 3rd Offense.

The accident is still under investigation by Trooper Jim Ryland of the Kentucky State Police.
