Deceased Body Found in Knott County Structure Fire
Date of News Release: 02/25/2008
(Hazard, KY) - On 02/24/08 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Kentucky State Police received a call of a structure fire on Yellow Mountain Road in the Softshell Community of Knott County. The caller advised they may also be someone inside the residence.
EMS and State Police arrived at the scene to find the structure completely engulfed in flames. Family members confirmed that Edward Lovins age 55 of Softshell, Ky. was still in the house.
After the fire was extinguished Mr. Lovins was located in the burned out remains. The Knott County Coroner pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. No foul play is suspected at this time. The investigation is continuing by Arson Investigator James Burnett and Det. Dean Craft with the Kentucky State Police.
