Shelby County Burglary/Death Investigation

Date of News Release: 10/19/2008

(Frankfort, Ky) - At 2354 hrs on 10-18-2008 Shelbyville dispatch received a call from a male subject advising his friend had been shot. Units located the subject on Mt. Eden Road and found the male deceased in the cab of a pickup truck with two other subjects. Upon further investigation it was determined that the three people who were in the truck had committed a burglary on Brown Ave. in Shelbyville. The deceased was shot by the homeowner upon entering the residence. The subjects fled the scene and called authorities when they were unable to locate the hospital. The deceased died of a single gunshot wound. The deceased has been identified as David L. Fletcher age 28 of LaGrange, KY. The two other subjects have been identified as Timothy A. Carpenter age 22 of LaGrange, KY & Joshua Fast age 22 of Crestwood, KY. Mr. Carpenter and Mr. Fast both have been charged with Burglary II and both were lodged in the Shelby County Jail.

Investigation is ongoing by Det. Mitch Harris.
