Update to the Fatal Estill County Fire Investigation

Update:
(Richmond, KY) - The State Medical Examiner's Office has concluded autopsies on the victims of Tuesday's fatal fire in Estill County. According to the State Medical Examiner's Office, all four victims died from smoke inhalation. The State Medical Examiner will attempt to make positive identification of the victims on 11/29/2007. Investigators have not determined a point of origin or a cause of the fire. Investigators remain at the scene.
(Richmond, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Post 7 Richmond is currently investigating a residential fire that occurred on J. R. Furniture Road in Estill County. The fire has left four confirmed fatalities. KSP Detectives and the Estill County Coroner responded to the scene shortly after 1: 00 a.m. after firefighters discovered victims in the remains of the mobile home. The victims include two adults and two children. Dr. Emily Craig, State Forensic Anthropologist is currently at the scene and will be assisting with the recovery and positive identification of the victims. The cause of the fire has not been determined and foul play is not suspected. The victims will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy and identification. Detectives are being assisted by KSP Arson Investigators from the Morehead and Frankfort Posts of the Kentucky State Police. The State Fire Marshall's Office also responded along with the fire departments of Irvine, Ravenna, and Hargett. The names of the victims will not be released until positive identification has been made and the next of kin have been notified.
