Owsley County Robberies Investigation and Arrest

(RICHMOND, KY) - On 07/17/2007 at approximately 0200 hours, Kentucky State Police Post 7 received a complaint of an armed robbery at a residence on Doe Creek Road in Owsley County. Trooper Jamie Gross and Trooper Doug Cole responded to this location.

While responding to the scene, Trooper Gross initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle (Jeremiah Birch, age 27 of Booneville, KY). The driver was apprehended immediately without incident and a passenger (Ronald S. Turner, age 28 of Newport, KY) fled on foot but was apprehended with the assistance of a KSP Canine. A female passenger (Tanya M. Birch, age 23 of Booneville, KY) was also arrested at the scene of the traffic stop.

Jeremiah Birch, Tanya M. Birch & Ronald S. Turner are believed to have committed three different armed robberies which have occurred in Owsley County since Saturday, July 14th. The other robberies have occurred on Holly Fork Road and Maulden-Owsley Co. Road. Jeremiah Birch, Tanya M. Birch & Ronald S. Turner in the robberies identify themselves as police officers and force themselves into the residence, where they rob the victim, and take items from their home.

Jeremiah Birch was charged with Robbery 1st, Complicity to Commit Robbery 1st (2 counts), Receiving Stolen Property Over $300, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon (3 counts), No Operators License, No Insurance, Expired Registration Plates , Failure To Register Transfer of a Motor Vehicle. Tanya M. Birch was charged with Complicity to Commit Robbery 1st, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd, Receiving Stolen Property Over $300. Ronald S. Turner was charged with Robbery 1st (2 counts), Complicity to Commit Robbery 1st, Receiving Stolen Property Over $300, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon (2 counts), Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd. Jeremiah Birch, Tanya M. Birch & Ronald S. Turner were lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail.
