Date of News Release: 11/11/2007
(Dry Ridge, KY) - Kentucky State Police, Post 6, Dry Ridge, responding to a complaint of a gasoline drive off from the Shell gas station in Butler, KY, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2007 Ford Focus operated by Mary K. Hoerlein-Venneman of Butler at 1504 hours.
Mrs. Hoerlein-Venneman failed to yield to Trooper Scott Lengle and led Trooper Lengle on a low speed pursuit through Pendleton County and into Campbell County. The pursuit lasted approximately 45 minutes. Once into Campbell County, the fleeing vehicle struck an Alexandria Police Department Cruiser and continued northbound on US 27. Campbell County Police deployed vehicle stop sticks which were effective in deflating two tires on the fleeing vehicle. Mrs. Hoerlein-Venneman turned onto KY 10, where she lost control causing a collision with the cruiser operated by Trooper Scott Lengle. Mrs. Hoerlein-Venneman then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended without further incident.
Mrs. Hoerlein-Venneman was lodged in the Campbell County Jail charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, 9 counts, Fleeing and Evading 1st degree (vehicle), Fleeing and Evading 2nd degree (on foot), Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, 2 counts, Criminal Mischief 1st degree, 1 count, No Operators License, Improper Passing, Failure to or Improper Signal, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
