Human Remains Located on Remote Farm in Henry County, KY
Date of News Release: 09/17/2007
(Campbellsburg, KY) - On Sunday October 14th, 2007, at approximately 9:10 AM, KSP Post-5, Campbellsburg received a "911" call, in reference to a possible location of human remains. The caller was a hunter, (name withheld), who had spotted a vehicle with skeletal bones nearby. The vehicle was located in a very remote location, off of Carmen Creek Road, on a farm in Henry County, Ky.
Dr. Emily Craig, the Ky. State Forensic Anthropologist with the State Medical Examiners Office, and the Henry County Coroner Jimmy Pollard, were notified. Tpr. Mickey Gonterman was dispatched to secure the scene, and KSP Lt. Moberly was in charge of orchestrating the response. KSP Det. Sgt. Vic Hubbuch, Det. Jason Brown, PAO-Tpr. 1st Class Chip Perry, and K-9 Tpr. 1st Class Larry Newton were notified and assisted at the scene.
When Dr. Craig and Coroner Pollard arrived, a detailed search of a very large area was conducted, which included an aerial search of the scene with the Kentucky State Police helicopter, to try and locate additional evidence. An extensive ground search was then conducted. Scattered human remains were located. The vehicle found at the scene is registered to Ada Wasson, age 80. Wasson along with her companion Mary Walters, age 68, both from Warren County, Ohio, were reported missing in April 2007. The remains are being collected and will be examined for positive identification.
They have not been positively identified as belonging to Wasson and Walters. Detectives from the Warren County, (Ohio) Sheriffs Office, assisted at the scene.
The investigation is preliminary, however foul play does not appear to be a factor. Once a positive identification is made, a news release will be issued.
