News Release

Pipe Bomb Located in Gallatin County

Date of News Release: 04/24/2007

(Campbellsburg, KY)- On April 23rd, 2007, at approx. 7:00 pm, KSP Post-05, Campbellsburg, received a call in reference to a possible pipe bomb in Gallatin County. Tpr. Justin Sams and KSP Sgt. Scott Davenport responded to the 400 block of Jericho Road and located the device in the front yard of the home. The homeowner, whose name is being withheld, located the device and contacted law enforcement officials. Tpr. Sams and Sgt. Davenport secured the scene and KSP Hazardous Devices Unit was notified, as well as the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, (ATF). Det. Kenny Ervin with the Hazardous Devices Unit responded with a special robot. ATF Agents also responded and assisted with the investigation. KSP Detectives Brady Lineman and Kevin Johnson were dispatched to the scene and Det. Johnson will be the investigating officer for any possible "state" charges. ATF is also carrying a case for any possible "federal" charges. Det. Ervin deactivated the previously "active" (or live), device. There were no injuries or property damage, as a result of this device. Gallatin County Sheriffs Office also assisted at the scene. This is all the information that we can release, at this time, so as not to jeapordize the investigation.
