CSX Train Hits Car in Hart County

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - James Ballard was southbound on US 31 and made a right turn onto a private drive to cross the railroad tracks. CSX Transportation Railroad Freight Train was southbound approaching the crossing when Mr. Ballard's vehicle crossed the tracks at the crossing. Mr. Ballard didn't observe the train until he was on the tracks and then put his vehicle into reverse and attempted to back out of the way of the southbound train. The CSX Train struck the front passenger side of unit knocking Mr. Ballard's vehicle off of the tracks. The driver of both units remained uninjured. Mr. Ballard's vehicle sustained severe front end damage while CSX Train remained in service. No damage to CSX Train.
