Fugitives from Justice Apprehended in Ballard County

(Ballard County) - On July 28, 2007 Trooper Kyle Nall and the Ballard County Sheriff's Office conducted a safety traffic checkpoint on US 62 just outside of Lovelaceville. During the checkpoint, Trooper Nall began a roadside interview with both suspects in reference to a non moving traffic violation and the detection of the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Further investigation lead to Trooper Nall placing the operator of the vehicle under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs. Trooper Nall and Ballard County Sheriff's Office then located a plastic bag containing personal use marijuana, four partially smoked marijuana cigarettes, and rolling papers.
Both subjects were placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd offense. Both subjects were also lodged as Fugitive from Justice out of Texas due to being wanted for probation violation. Jonathan David Collins was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Drugs, Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd offense, Driving on DUI Suspended License Aggravated Circumstances, Fugitive from Justice, and No Registration Plate. Malissa Jane Howell was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd offense, and Fugitive from Justice. Both subjects are lodged in the Ballard County Jail and will be extradited back to Texas.
Investigation continues by Trooper Nall.
