Update to Injury (Fatal) Crash on US 45 and Lawn Road in Graves County

(Mayfield, KY) - Update 05/31/07--Alice Faye Burnett was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital 05/29/07 at 1651 hours due to the injuries that she sustained in this accident. ***Burnett was traveling South on U.S. 45 when for unknown reasons, she dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Burnett overcorrected, crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Ronald White head-on. Burnett, who received multiple injuries, was transported to Lourdes Hospital and then transferred by air-ambulance to Vanderbilt Hospital. White was not injured. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelt. The roadway was closed for over an hour while the scene was being cleared. The Mayfield Police Department and Graves County Fire and Rescue assisted state police at the scene. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Joe Gregory.
