Injury Crash on I-24 in Lyon County

Date of News Release: 05/10/2007

(Mayfield, KY.) - Darryl G. Morris was west bound I-24 when he stated that he fell asleep. Mr. Morris' vehicle then struck the right shoulder guardrail. Mr. Morris over corrected and struck the bridge wall over Port Authority Road. Vehicle rode partially up over the bridge wall before coming back down onto the travel portion of the roadway. Vehicle continued forward, rotating, crossing back over travel portion of roadway before striking the right shoulder guardrail face. Vehicle then came to final rest. Mr. Morris was wearing his seatbelt. Mr. Morris sustained minor head and neck injuries as a result of the crash. He was mechanically extricated due to the vehicle damage. State Police had one lane of the interstate shut down for approximately an hour as the scene was investigated. Tpr Anderson was assisted by Lyon County Sheriff Kent Murphy, Lyon County Rescue/EMS, and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement assisted.
