Injury Crash on I24 in Lyon County
Date of News Release: 02/20/2007
(Lyon County) - Billy R Decker was westbound on I24 near the 56mm pulling a flat bad trailer. Tony G Forrest had pulled his semi to the emergency strip due to high winds. As Tony G Forrest was exiting the semi, Billy R Decker struck the rear portion of the semi causing his 1997 Ford truck to overturn. Drivers of both Unit 3 (William Smith) and Unit 4 (Leo Seithel) struck debris from Billy R Decker's semi causing minor damage to their vehicles. Westbound lanes of Interstate 24 were shut down for approximately 3 hours. Billy R Decker was cited into court for driving on expired out of state registration and failure to produce insurance card. The Kentucky Departmet of Highways, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, Lyon County Sheriffs Office, Rescue Squad and Ambulance Service and Eddyville Fire Department assisted Kentucky State Police on scene. The investigation is continuing with Tpr John Gabbard.
