Injury Crash on I-24 in Livingston County
Date of News Release: 02/01/2007
(Livingston County, KY) - Glenn Dowd was traveling west on I-24 at the 31-mile marker when he changed lanes to make room for a merging vehicle. Mr. Dowd struck a duel wheel and brake drum assembly that had been abandoned in the roadway. The impact caused severe damage to the left side of his truck, including puncturing the fuel tank. Approximately 25 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway. After the initial impact, the debris was projected in to the eastbound lane where it struck another truck driven by Josel Couture, 47 of Quebec, Canada. Mr. Dowd had to be transported by ambulance to Lourdes Hospital and treated for a cut to the head. The Grand Lakes Fire Department and Livingston County EMS assisted state police at the scene. The investigation is continuing by TFC. Chris Anderson.
