Drug Round-Up in Carter County

Date of News Release: 04/17/2007

Kentucky State Police in Ashland conducted a "Drug Round-up" early this morning after an extensive long-term investigation into illegal drug activity in the Carter County region of Post 14. Authorities from KSP at Post 14 have worked in conjunction with KSP DESI (Drug Enforcement Special Investigations) over the last six months into suspected illegal drug trafficking in this area and have subsequently received indictments for various charges stemming from this extensive investigation. Troopers began the arrests this morning and continued throughout most of the day.

  1. Leroy Wease III DOB: 07/26/1948. 4 counts of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  2. Chassidy Carter DOB: 02/16/1983. 1 count of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  3. Anita Carter DOB: 04/08/1966. 2 counts of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  4. John McGuire DOB: 10/10/1955. 1 count of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill
  5. Jayson McGuire DOB: 08/16/1983 2 counts of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill
  6. James D. Claxon DOB: 09/09/1977. 1 count of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Grayson.
  7. Sam Pennington DOB: 10/27/1974. 1 count of Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Grayson.
  8. Alice Lawhorn DOB: 01/26/1939. 1 count Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st - 1 count Trafficking Controlled Substance 3rd. Olive Hill.
  9. Charlie Cooley DOB: 07/15/1977. 3 counts Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  10. John Evans DOB: 04/27/1926. 3 counts Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  11. Justin Watkins DOB: 05/26/1967. 3 counts Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Olive Hill.
  12. Charles G. Ryland DOB: 10/26/1946. 2 counts Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Grayson.
  13. William Greer DOB: 05/24/1971. 2 counts Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st. Grayson.

There are additional suspects and their whereabouts are being sought by the Kentucky State Police.
