News Release

Felony Arson Arrest in Lawrence County

Date of News Release: 02/15/2007

(ASHLAND, KY): Kentucky State Police in Ashland are continuing their investigation into an arson fire in the Nats Creek region of Lawrence County and have subsequently arrested two individuals responsible for the fire. On 2-13-07 at 2312 hours, Kentucky State Police was notified of a possible arson to a dwelling owned by Dan Jordan of Nats Creek. A fire was set to the mobile home owned by Jordan but was contained by the Cherryville Fire Department. Det Carroll, through an extensive investigation, developed two suspects responsible for the arson. A search warrant was obtained for the suspects´ (Harless and Fields) residence on Nats Creek and was executed on 2-14-07. Brooke Fields was arrested at the scene without incident. Harless was not at the house during the search but later drove upon his residence only to find Kentucky State Police authorities at his house. Harless fled the scene in his vehicle and fled on foot into a family member´s house where he was found hiding in the bathroom. Harless was then apprehended by Deputy Rick May of the Lawrence County Sheriff´s department.

The motive for the fire is still under investigation.

*Additional charges are pending against both suspects.
