News Release

Murder Investigations & Arrest in Floyd County

Date of News Release: 11/29/2006

Pikeville, KY-- On April 1, 2006 at approximately 2:17 PM Kentucky State Police Post 9- Pikeville received a call in regards to human remains being found off of a strip mine road on Big Branch in the Harold Community of Floyd County.

A positive identification of the remains identified the female as Margaret Hall, 56 years of age, Tram, KY. She had been reported missing on March 30, 2006 and was last seen on March 18, 2006.

After a 8 month investigation, warrants were obtained for Tony Ray Tackett on November 28, 2006.

On November 29, 2006 at 9:22 am Trooper David Watkins located and arrested Tony Ray Tackett, 44 years of age. Tackett was located outside of a residence at Printer, KY. Tackett is charged with Murder, Rape 1st and Unlawful Imprisonment 1st. He will be lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

Although an arrest has been made, this is still an ongoing investigation. At this time we have not ruled out the possibility that other suspects could have been involved.
