2006 Christmas & 2007 News Years Press Release
Date of News Release: 12/21/2006
(Dry Ridge, KY) - Over the 2006 Christmas Holiday through January 2, 2007, the Kentucky State Police at Dry Ridge will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints throughout the post district. These checkpoints will be set up at designated areas on highways where statistics have shown an elevated number of serious vehicle crashes. During the checkpoints Troopers will be enforcing laws related to Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Licensing of Drivers, Registration and Insurance Violations, Seat Belt and Child Restraint Violations, and Motor Vehicle Equipment Violations. These checkpoints are a continuation of the Kentucky State Police's constant effort to reduce the number of crash fatalities and injuries associated with speeding, impaired driving, and violations of safety belt laws.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety during the Christmas/New Year's Holiday period by reporting erratic, impaired or speeding drivers to the Kentucky State Police at 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and the license number if possible.
The Kentucky State Police urge citizens to slow down and use courtesy when travelling this holiday season, buckle-up and allow additional time to arrive at their destinations.
