News Release

Hostage Situation in Warren County

Date of News Release: 08/03/2006

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) - Three deputies from the Warren County Sheriffs Department arrived at the above address in reference to a warrant. Contact was made with a female there who advised the subject in question was not at the residence. Consent to search was granted and a search of the residence ensued. The subject attempted to escape the residence by tearing through the roof. A fourth deputy pursued and got into a struggle with the subject. The subject disarmed the deputy and fired shots from the deputies' weapon at responding officers. There was a brief exchange of gunfire between the subject and responding units. There were no injuries resulting from the gunfire. There was a hostage negotiator on the scene who attempted to negotiate the release of the deputy. The subject continued to hold the 4th deputy hostage on the roof as the BGPD CRT (Critical Response Team) surrounded the residence. The subject released the deputy at 0202 hours. The subject maintained possession of the weapon. The subject surrendered without further incident at 0305 hours.

Names of the deputies involved are being withheld until KSP can conclude their interviews.
