Fatal Crash on KY 231 Near Morgantown, KY

Date of News Release: 03/06/2006

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - Shannon Phelps age 29 of Morgantown, KY was traveling Northbound on KY 231. Shannon Phelps lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway and impacted two trees with the driver's side.

Shannon Phelps was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Marty Jones. The passenger (Joshua Woosley age 20 of Morgantown, KY) was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. Condition is unknown at this time.

Joe Johnson and Terry Friell were two good Samaritans that heard the accident and were able to pull Mr. Woosley from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed in flames.
