Update to Fatal Crash on I-65 in Warren County, KY

Update: On January 31, 2006 Esquivel-Martinez Eleazar was charged with Manslaughter 2nd.

(BOWLING GREEN, KY) - Eleazar Esquivel-Martinez age 30 of Montgomery, AL was traveling northbound on I-65, in the vicinity of milepost 24 in the construction area. A second vehicle was parked on the shoulder occupied by two adult males. The passenger of the parked vehicle exited the vehicle for unknown reason and entered the northbound lanes of traffic and was struck by Eleazar Esquivel-Martinez' vehicle. Eleazar Esquivel-Martinez's vehicle left the scene and was located around mile maker 70 by a Kentucky State Police Post 4 unit, Tpr. Burton.

The operator of Unit 1 (Eleazar Esquivel-Martinez) was arrested at the scene by Trooper McChesney of the Kentucky State Police Post 3 and was transported to the Warren County Regional Jail. The driver (Stevie Page age 28 of Edmonton, KY) of the parked vehicle was also charged with operating under the influence and was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. The pedestrian (Robert Haskins age 25 of Muncie, IN) was pronounced dead on the scene Deputy Coroner Ralph Sizemore.

The investigation is continuing.
