Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense / Cocaine Arrest in Marshall County

Date of News Release: 10/08/2006

(Mayfield, KY) - On October 7, 2006, at approximately 3:23 pm, the suspects (Francisco J. Davis, James I. Dawson III, and a Juvenile) delivered approximately 6.7 grams of cocaine from the Paducah area, selling the cocaine for $1500.00 to an undercover State Police informant. The transaction occurred in the Minit Mart parking lot on the corner of South Main and 5th in Calvert City. After the deal was made officers arrested the three suspects. A small amount of marijuana was found in the car and on James Dawson III. $1500.00 plus the car used by the suspects were seized.

Shortly after these arrests were made, another transaction occurred in the same location. Officers quickly had the three suspects transported to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the vehicle removed because three more suspects were enroute from the Paducah area to the Minit Mart to sell the undercover informant more cocaine.

On October 7, 2006, at approximately 4:20 pm, the suspects (Michael T. Thomas, Vernon E. Bridges, and Jovon E. Wade) sold approximately 3.5 grams of cocaine for $500.00 to an undercover State Police informant. The transaction occurred in the Minit Mart parking lot on the corner of South Main and 5th in Calvert City. After the deal had been made officers arrested the three suspects. An additional 5.2 grams of suspected cocaine was found on Michael Thomas and 4.2 grams of suspected marijuana was found on Vernon Bridges. $595.00 plus the car used by the suspects were seized by the State Police.

These arrests occurred 1 hour after three others where arrested for the same offense at the same location.

"We had suspected drug dealers arriving close to the same time and place, to sell the same drug, cocaine, to the same person. We worked quickly to clear the first transaction so as not to interfere with the others that were coming. It's not often that we have dealers overlapping the same place & time, but we adapted to the situation and everything worked out. 5 people were arrested and 1 juvenile detained in two separate investigations; recovering a total of 15.4 grams of cocaine, 7.5 grams of marijuana, $1625.00, and two vehicles seized."
