Injury Crash on Highway 641 in Calloway County, KY

Date of News Release: 03/12/2006

(Calloway County, KY) - Trooper Timothy Sales, U/681 observed Jeffrey Darnell speeding and weaving on Hwy 641 South of Murray city limits. At this time Trooper Sales activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop Darnell. Darnell failed to yield and turned West on Glendale Road (KY 1660). Darnell crossed into the oncoming lane several times before failing to negotiate a turn. Darnell's vehicle crashed, overturning on the vehicle's roof, pinning Darnell's leg under the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle caught fire and was extinguished by Trooper Sales. Darnell was transported to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital by the Calloway EMS. Darnell was released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries and is being lodged in the Calloway County Jail. The Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Calloway County Sheriff's Office, Murray Police Department, Murray State Public Safety, Murray Fire Department, and the Calloway County EMS.
