Fatal ATV Crash in Russell County

(Columbia, KY) - The Columbia Kentucky State Police Post investigated a fatal traffic accident in Russell County approximately 10 miles east of Russell Springs at 11:09 today. Gary Brockman, age 66, of Russell Springs had parked his vehicle off of the eastbound side of the roadway, and was a pedestrian in front of his vehicle. Emanuel Keith, age 81, of Russell Springs was operating a 1985 Dodge pickup truck eastbound. Keith's vehicle struck Brockman's vehicle in the left rear, damaging the right front wheel of Keith's, causing it to go off of the roadway onto the shoulder, and strike Brockman. Keith's vehicle continued through a fence and struck a sign before coming to final rest. The Russell County Coroner, Larry Skaggs, pronounced Mr. Brockman dead at the scene.

Trooper Young, who is a Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstructionist, was assisted by a Russell County Constable, the Russell County E.M.S., Eli Fire Department, along with Kentucky State Police Troopers Kendra Wilson and Mike Woodrum.
