News Release

Casey County Death Investigation

Date of News Release: 03/02/2006

(Columbia, KY) - Around 9:07 a.m. on March 2, 2006, Kentucky State Police received a call about a possible drug overdose at the Casey County Hospital. When officers arrived at the scene, the Casey County Coroner Tommy Clark had already declared Mark Anthony Sharp deceased.

Mark Anthony Sharp was a 31 year old white male from Liberty, Kentucky. Death is believed to be related to a possible drug overdose .

This is the fourth drug overdose death investigation within the last three weeks in the Casey County area. There have been at least two other investigations where drug overdose victims survived. The type of drug used in these cases has not been determined at this time, toxicology results are pending.

The case is being investigated by Kentucky State Police Detective George Atwood, Casey County Sheriff's Department and the Casey County Coroner's Office.
